An order has been issued to expand the Pilot Program for Electronic Filing (E-Filing) of documents in the Court of Common Pleas to include Cherokee County, effective September 13, 2016. From this date, all filings in common pleas cases in Cherokee County must be E-Filed if the party is represented by an attorney, except for cases or filings specifically excluded from the Pilot Program. The counties currently mandated for E-Filing include Clarendon, Lee, Greenville, Sumter, Williamsburg, Pickens, Spartanburg, and Cherokee. Attorneys must refer to the South Carolina Electronic Filing Policies and Guidelines, established by the Supreme Court on October 28, 2015, and consult the training materials provided at the specified website to identify any exemptions from the E-Filing requirement. It is recommended that attorneys and their staff review these training materials thoroughly. The order is signed by Costa M. Pleicones, Chief Justice of South Carolina.
