On December 20, 2017, the application for leave to appeal the June 6, 2017 judgment of the Court of Appeals was put on hold pending the outcomes of Michigan Gun Owners, Inc. v. Ann Arbor Public Schools and Michigan Open Carry, Inc. v. Clio Area School District. Following the decisions in those cases on July 27, 2018, the application was reconsidered. The Court noted that New York State Rifle & Pistol Ass'n, Inc. v. City of New York is currently pending before the United States Supreme Court, and its outcome may address issues relevant to the present application. Consequently, the application is again held in abeyance until the Supreme Court's decision is issued. Judge Bernstein did not participate in this order.
