On November 23, 2016, the application for leave to appeal the March 22, 2016 order of the Court of Appeals was held in abeyance. This was pending the outcomes of People v. Steanhouse (Docket No. 152849) and People v. Masroor (Docket Nos. 152946-8), which were resolved on July 24, 2017. Following the decisions in those cases, the application was reconsidered. It was noted that the case of People v. Ames (Docket No. 156077) is currently pending appeal before the Court, and its decision may address issues relevant to the current application for leave to appeal. Consequently, the application is again held in abeyance until the resolution of the Ames case.
