Brenda Williams was convicted in 2003 for first-degree murder and armed criminal action related to the 2001 shooting death of Thadd Mize. In 2012, she sought DNA testing of clothing seized after the offense under statute 547.035, RSMo. The circuit court denied her motion without holding an evidentiary hearing. Williams appealed the decision, but the appellate court affirmed the circuit court's ruling. A memorandum explaining the reasoning for this order was provided to the parties since a published opinion would not have precedential value, in accordance with Rule 84.16(b).
