Willis v. State
Citations: 463 S.W.3d 831; 2015 Mo. App. LEXIS 658; 2015 WL 3751403Docket: WD 77438
Court: Missouri Court of Appeals; June 16, 2015; Missouri; State Appellate Court
Ralph Willis was convicted in 2010 of second-degree murder, first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and child abuse in the Circuit Court of Jackson County, related to the death of a six-month-old infant in his care. Willis subsequently filed a motion for post-conviction relief under Supreme Court Rule 29.15, claiming ineffective assistance of trial counsel for withdrawing a motion in limine that aimed to exclude evidence of the infant's prior injuries. The circuit court conducted an evidentiary hearing and denied the motion. The decision is affirmed, and an unpublished memorandum explaining the reasons for the order has been provided to the parties, as a published opinion would hold no precedential value.
