The Court of Appeals for the Eighth District of Texas has issued a judgment in the case of Mark D. Walker (Appellant) vs. Takelya L. Walker (Appellee). The court reviewed the trial court’s decisions and affirmed its judgment on all issues except for the interest rate applied to the child support arrearage owed by Appellant to Appellee. Specifically, the court reversed the trial court’s decision to impose a 12% interest rate on the child support arrearage and remanded the case for the trial court to reassess the interest rate in accordance with this ruling. The court ordered that Appellee is entitled to recover costs from Appellant and any sureties for the performance of the judgment, and execution for these costs is to be issued. The judgment is to be certified for observance. The decision was signed by Justice Gina M. Palafox on December 29, 2021, with concurrence from Chief Justice Rodriguez and Justice Alley.
