In re Wainwright
Docket: No. 2014-OB-2054
Court: Supreme Court of Louisiana; November 6, 2014; Louisiana; State Supreme Court
Charles Gary Wainwright, an attorney currently suspended from practicing law in Louisiana, applied for reinstatement following an eighteen-month suspension imposed in 2012 due to multiple violations, including neglecting client matters, failing to communicate, mishandling funds, and practicing law while ineligible. In December 2013, Wainwright submitted his application for reinstatement, claiming compliance with the criteria outlined in Supreme Court Rule XIX. The Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC) did not oppose the application, leading to a formal hearing by a hearing committee, which recommended his reinstatement. Both Wainwright and the ODC did not object to this recommendation. After reviewing the record, the court adopted the committee's recommendation, finding clear and convincing evidence of Wainwright's compliance with the reinstatement criteria and affirming his competence, honesty, and integrity. Consequently, he was ordered to be reinstated to the practice of law in Louisiana, with all costs of the proceedings assessed against him.
