Timothy A. Hampton filed a petition for a writ of habeas corpus against the State of Florida. The First District Court of Appeal dismissed the petition per curiam on September 28, 2018, referencing the precedent set in Baker v. State, 878 So. 2d 1236 (Fla. 2004). The ruling was issued with concurrence from Chief Judge B.L. Thomas and Judges Kelsey and Winokur. The dismissal is not final until any timely and authorized motion under Florida Rules of Appellate Procedure 9.330 or 9.331 is resolved. Hampton represented himself in the petition, while the respondent was represented by Attorney General Pamela Jo Bondi from Tallahassee.
