Jean J. Laurent was convicted by a jury of first-degree falsifying business records and petit larceny, as determined by the Ontario County Court on October 3, 2014. The Appellate Division, Fourth Department, affirmed the judgment on December 22, 2017. The court found that the evidence supported the elements of the crimes charged and rejected Laurent's claim that the verdict was against the weight of the evidence. Furthermore, Laurent conceded that he did not preserve for appeal his argument regarding prosecutorial misconduct during summation, and the court opted not to review this matter in the interest of justice. The decision was unanimous, with the judges affirming the original ruling and confirming that the opinion is uncorrected and subject to revision before official publication.
