W. Mark Hixson has been immediately suspended from practicing law following his nolo contendere plea to two misdemeanor counts of soliciting prostitution, which occurred on August 1 and August 8, 2016. This action was taken by the Oklahoma Bar Association (OBA) in accordance with the Rules Governing Disciplinary Proceedings (RGDP), specifically Rules 7.1, 7.2, and 7.3, which mandate suspension upon receipt of certified legal documents regarding criminal convictions. Hixson is required to show cause by November 28, 2016, why the interim suspension should be lifted, while the OBA must respond by December 9, 2016. Additionally, under Rule 7.4 of the RGDP, Hixson has until December 28, 2016, to contest a final order of discipline, request a hearing, or submit mitigating evidence, with the OBA's response due by January 13, 2017. The Supreme Court ordered this suspension on November 14, 2016, with all justices concurring.
