Murrell, Getzell Johnson
Citation: Not availableDocket: WR-12,866-02
Court: Court of Appeals of Texas; August 26, 2015; Texas; State Appellate Court
Original Court Document: View Document
Getzell Johnson Murrell, currently incarcerated in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, is seeking assistance regarding a writ of habeas corpus he filed in 1993 while confined in the Federal Bureau of Prisons. He was convicted on April 5, 1993, for aggravated sexual assault with a deadly weapon in Cause No. 22779. Murrell claims that his original writ was based on a fundamentally defective indictment but notes that there is no record of the writ in the 3rd Judicial District Court in Anderson County, Texas. Despite having a copy of the writ, he is unable to find the assigned writ number from the Court of Criminal Appeals or confirm if it was ever forwarded to the Court. He requests that the court provide this information to clarify how to proceed with his current writ awaiting filing. He has included a self-addressed stamped envelope for their response.
