On August 4, 2016, appellant B.M.G. filed a notice of appeal in the Fourth Court of Appeals, San Antonio. The court informed B.M.G. that the required $205.00 filing fee had not been paid, and there was no evidence that B.M.G. was exempt from this fee. A letter dated August 12, 2016, warned that failure to pay the fee by August 22, 2016, could result in the appeal being stricken. As of the date of the order, the court had not received the payment or an affidavit of indigence. Additionally, B.M.G. was required to submit a docketing statement by August 22, 2016, but none had been filed.

The court ordered B.M.G. to show cause in writing within ten days of the order, providing proof of either the payment of the filing fees or entitlement to appeal without payment. Failure to respond within the specified time would lead to dismissal of the appeal. All other appellate deadlines were suspended pending further court orders. The order was signed by Justice Patricia O. Alvarez and dated September 23, 2016.
