Melvin Dashawn Griggs v. State
Citation: Not availableDocket: 02-09-00234-CR
Court: Court of Appeals of Texas; April 29, 2010; Texas; State Appellate Court
Original Court Document: View Document
On February 22, 2010, the trial court submitted a corrected certification regarding Melvin Dashawn Griggs’s right to appeal his convictions, indicating that these cases were part of a plea bargain, thus Griggs had waived his right to appeal. Following this, on March 16, 2010, the court expressed concerns about its jurisdiction over the appeals due to the lack of a right to appeal and required any party wishing to continue the appeals to file a response. No such response was received. Consequently, the court dismissed the appeals for want of jurisdiction, referencing Texas Rule of Appellate Procedure 25.2 and relevant case law. The decision was delivered by the panel consisting of Chief Justice Livingston and Justices McCoy and Meier, and it was not published.
