Citation: Not availableDocket: 01-12-01076-CR
Court: Court of Appeals of Texas; January 6, 2014; Texas; State Appellate Court
Original Court Document: View Document
Marcus Lee Jefferson filed a motion on December 13, 2013, requesting the appointment of legal counsel to respond to an Anders brief previously submitted by his counsel on September 3, 2013. The Court of Appeals for the First District of Texas at Houston ruled on January 7, 2014, that while Jefferson has the right to file a pro se response to the Anders brief, he is not entitled to appointed counsel for this purpose. Consequently, the motion to provide legal counsel was denied. The Clerk was instructed to file relevant documents as of the date of the order. The Court also indicated that absent extraordinary circumstances, no further motions for extension of time would be granted. Judge Jane Bland signed the order, acting individually for the court.
