The Court of Appeals for the Fifth District of Texas at Dallas reinstated the appeal of Nicolas Stephen Lloyd against the State of Texas. Initially, on December 17, 2013, the court had ordered the trial court to provide findings regarding the failure to file the appellant's brief. However, after receiving the brief and an extension motion from the appellant on January 10, 2014, the court decided to vacate the prior order for findings. The court granted the extension motion and ordered that the appellant's brief be filed within the specified timeframe. The order was signed by Justice Lana Myers.
